Product Overview
LTC4331CUFD#TRPBF is an I²C device extender over rugged differential link. It is a point-to-point SMBus compatible I²C device extender designed for operation in high noise industrial environment. Using a ±60V fault protected differential transceiver, it can extend an I²C/ SMBus bus, including SMBALERT, a control signal, over a single twisted pair differential link up to 1200m. With an extended common mode operating range the solution provides tolerance to large ground difference b/w node. For EMI sensitive environments, a slew rate control pin reduces the EMI emitted from the differential link. It can act as an I²C to I²C bridge allowing independent bus frequencies between the local and remote networks. The solution is completely transparent to the host requiring no additional code in most cases however, a control interface is provided for additional configuration, fault monitoring. Application includes industrial control and sensor, lighting and sound system control.
- Up to 1MHz serial clock, fast-mode plus (Fm+)
- Protected from overvoltage line faults to ±60V
- ±40kV ESD on link pins, operating supply current is 1µA typ at (low power: ON = 0)
- IEC level 4 ESD ±8kV and EFT ±5kV on link pins, input pin capacitance is 10pF typical at (SCL, SDA)
- Extended common mode range ±15V, driver rise or fall time is 4ns typ at (RDIFF = 54Ω, CL = 100pF)
- Remote interrupt/SMBALERT and control signals
- Low EMI mode, SMBus 3.0 compatible
- I²C idle detection, and stuck bus protection, I²C device address sharing
- Operating supply range from 3 to 5.5V, logic supply range from 1.62 to 5.5V
- 20 lead plastic QFN package, operating ambient temperature range from 0°C to 70°C
